Background: Almost all universities and some private higher education providers have central academic development units/learning and teaching centres leading professional development and student retention initiatives. Broad challenges and human resource management challenges occur at various times within all workplace areas. This research explores such challenges within the context of central academic development units/learning and teaching centre.
Research Aim: This research aims to improve awareness of broad and human resource challenges within academic development units/learning and teaching centres and offer practical solutions relevant to the field. This research also explores the impact of such challenges on the provision of expected key functions and responsibilities at both the unit/centre level and at the higher education provider level.
Methodology 1: Survey: This open and closed Federation University Lime Survey will gather basic information regarding demographics, education background, academic experience, lived challenges and perceptions regarding team functions relevant to the participant’s role. This survey will be completed in an anonymous manner. All data from this section will be presented by collective descriptive statistics and key summary themes.
